In February 2015, a young man was armed with just a Twitter account, an Instagram account, and an eye for vintage classy designs. In spite of the odds, he used these weapons to start his vintage fashion business. Today he is one of the fastest selling vintage clothing retailers in Nigeria. That young man is Cohan Nnanta

Meet Cohan Nnanta (@Cohannnn), the CEO, Creative officer and Marketing Manager of Retrocode. Retrocode is a vintage /retro clothing brand that bridges the gap between fashion from the past and contemporary fashion. It is a Nigerian company  that employs tailors from Nigeria and around the world.

Tapping into the social media buzz, Cohan leveraged on the increasingly popular ‘tab’ system.  The “tab” slang ultimately represents a service. Customers with tabs get VIP priority when products are available. We will throw more light on it in our Interview with Cohan. At Retrocode, it is a system that allows people anonymously buy shirts for others by ‘opening a tab’. This gifting system gives everyone the opportunity to purchase one of his vintage designs for a loved one.

In fact, the quality of his designs have also caught the eyes of celebrities in Nigeria, which include Patoranking and Seyi Shay to mention a few.

Join Cohan and the Afropreneur team on  Episode 7 of the Afropreneur Podcast  as we discuss, the value of starting with the resources available. Dear Entrepreneur, START NOW!
